The Sierra Shadow Casters, MC (SSCMC) was the creation of several bikers in Mariposa, CA back in Sept of 2003. The idea was to form a club that could not only ride together at every available opportunity but to also do some good for the community.
Soon we began sponsoring annual runs, the Sierra Moon Shine Run and the Sierra Memorial Run which rode through Yosemite. We helped collect toys for kids in need at Christmas in conjunction with the local sheriffs department. (Cops for Kids). We adopted the Motto of "Riding for Others" and it wasn't long before our membership rose to over 100 -- many who didn't even ride joined as "Friends of the SSC." The list of charitable acts grew to member contributions to Scholarships for alternative High school students who were good kids but
whose square-peg personalities did not fit into the round hole of the "Regular" High School. There was Coats of Kids, Manna House, Families of fallen Riders, folks who lost their homes. Parades, rallies, picnics, community efforts of all types. We made quite a splash.
Then as 2008-9 rolled in several members went in different directions as sometimes happens. The SSC members rode occasionally as individuals over the next few years and reminisced about the good times. Then in October of 2014 at a Club reunion it was decided by all to bring the SSC back on the Road, formally.
There are a few changes: the club reorganized as non-profit corporation 501(c)4 tax exempt organization. New members will go through a "candidate" process and there are minimum requirements for maintaining membership. There are formal positions (officers) President: Mark Aston; VP: Paul Hall; Treasurer Secretary: Charlie James; Sargent at Arms: Rod Dixon and and Member at Large Mary Rohrig.
22015 has been a great year for the SSC. As a Non Profit Charitable Civic Organization, we held two very success fundraising Poker Runs in 2015; one benefiting Fresno Fire Captain Pete Dern and the other benefiting The Children's Museum of the Sierra in Oakhurst. We are very proud of our long standing efforts to help the Foothill Charitable organizations and we are planning three exciting events for 2016. If you are interested in being a part of our Club, or just want to help us in our fundraising efforts, please contact Mark or Paul. See "Contact Us" tab for details.
Being and SSC member is certainly not all work and no fun! We have a great time on our regular Club rides, at Club BBQ's, Club Parties, and just hanging out, where we all just have a great time. As a Club we enjoy multiple day trips while enjoying our passion for riding motorcycles! SSC Members are here for each other and willing help each other out when times of need arise.
We ride as a Social Motorcycle Club not as a 1% Territorial MC. We welcome all makes and models of motorcycles and we encourage Women Riders to join as Patched members. You are welcome to ride with us as "Friends of the SSC", so follow us on Facebook to join us on our monthly events as we enjoy "Riding for Others".
Charter Members of the Original SSC,MC met in October 2014 for a reunion party.
